At the prestigious SIGGRAPH 2024 conference on July 30, NVIDIA showcased groundbreaking advancements in rendering, simulation, and generative AI, with the most notable highlight being the upgraded NVIDIA NIM platform.
NIM, NVIDIA’s latest innovation in the generative AI era, allows users to build AI applications in mere minutes, significantly simplifying AI model development and deployment.
Describing NIM as “AI-in-a-Box,” NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang emphasized that this upgrade standardizes the complex deployment of AI models, bolstering NVIDIA’s dominance in the AI sector.
The NIM ecosystem offers a variety of pre-trained AI models across diverse fields, including text processing, speech synthesis, 3D scene creation, robotics, and digital biology. These optimized “containers” can be rapidly deployed in the cloud, data centers, or workstations, expediting AI application development and deployment.
NVIDIA also announced that the Hugging Face Inference-as-a-Service platform now operates on NVIDIA NIM in the cloud, further extending NIM’s reach.
Additionally, NVIDIA NIM’s microservices enable various industries to create physics-based virtual worlds and digital twins, enhancing the understanding and application of the OpenUSD (Universal Scene Description) language.
At SIGGRAPH, NVIDIA demonstrated the application of generative AI on the OpenUSD and Omniverse platforms, including a new USD connector that integrates robotics and industrial simulation data formats with developer tools, fostering advancements in 3D modeling, robotics simulation, and digital twin technologies.
