Microsoft has unveiled a significant update to its Xbox Game Store by integrating Nvidia‘s GeForce NOW cloud gaming service. This new feature allows users to choose their preferred cloud gaming platform directly from the Xbox game page, a departure from the previous exclusivity of Xbox Cloud Gaming.
Announced on X (formerly Twitter), the move represents a strategic partnership between Xbox and Nvidia, alongside Boosteriod, aimed at broadening the reach of first-party games. This integration provides gamers with the flexibility to select between Xbox Cloud Gaming and GeForce NOW when accessing games through the web.
For users to benefit from this new feature, they need to own Xbox games on Steam and have an active GeForce NOW account. This setup enables players to enjoy their favorite titles from virtually anywhere.
As outlined in a recent Xbox blog post: “Xbox has partnered with NVIDIA GeForce NOW and Boosteroid to extend the accessibility of first-party games. If you own supported Xbox games on Steam and have an account with either streaming service, you can play your games from anywhere via the cloud. Ensure that you link your Steam account with NVIDIA GeForce NOW or Boosteroid.”
Additionally, subscribers to GeForce NOW can now stream games available on Game Pass. “If you own any supported game on the Microsoft Store or hold an active Game Pass subscription, you can stream these games on NVIDIA GeForce NOW by signing in to your Microsoft account,” the blog post confirms.
This integration marks a notable shift in the cloud gaming landscape, offering Xbox players greater flexibility and convenience in how they access and play their games.
