Meta Expands Monetization Options for Facebook Creators in Kenya

Meta has unveiled new monetization features for Facebook creators in Kenya, introducing a range of tools designed to help them generate revenue from their video and reel content. This expansion includes support in over 30 languages worldwide, including Swahili.

The new features—In-Stream Ads and Facebook Ads on Reels—are set to offer Kenyan creators new opportunities to earn money while fostering community engagement and showcasing their creative talents.

Moon Baz, Meta’s Global Partnerships Lead for Africa, the Middle East, and Turkey (AMET), commented on the launch: “We’re continually inspired by the remarkable African creators on Facebook who share their stories and connect with audiences. This expansion will enable eligible Kenyan creators to monetize their content and set a high standard for creativity globally, making Meta’s suite of apps an essential platform for all creators.”

Meta detailed that In-Stream Ads can appear before, during, or after on-demand videos, including pre-recorded content and replays of live streams. These ads come in various formats: Pre-roll Ads (before a video starts), Mid-roll Ads (during the video), Image Ads (static images beneath the video), and Post-roll Ads (after the video ends).

Additionally, Ads on Facebook Reels will be integrated into original Reels, allowing creators to earn based on the performance of their content while engaging their audience.

To qualify for these monetization features, creators must adhere to Facebook’s Partner Monetization Policies and Content Monetization Policies, and be at least 18 years old. Specifically for In-Stream Ads, creators need to have a minimum of 5,000 followers to be eligible.

This rollout aims to enhance the earning potential for Kenyan creators, empowering them to benefit from their content and creativity.
