NVIDIA Unveils Stable Driver 560.35.03 for Linux, Addressing Wayland Issues and More

NVIDIA has officially launched its latest stable driver, version 560.35.03, for Linux users, incorporating crucial updates and fixes. This marks the debut of the 560 series as a stable release, consolidating enhancements from previous versions 560.28.03 and 560.31.02, which were introduced in late July and early August.

Key features of the 560.35.03 driver include:

Default GPU Kernel Modules: For compatible GPUs, the driver now defaults to open GPU kernel modules.

Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) Support: Enhancements for VRR on Wayland for pre-Volta GPUs have been included.

    Resolved Issues:

    • DVI Output Bug: Fixes a problem introduced in version 555.58 where certain DVI outputs failed to work with HDMI monitors.
    • KDE Plasma Shell Freeze: Addresses an issue where KDE Plasma Shell would freeze when hovering over or opening applets in Wayland compositor mode.
    • Wayland Direct Scanout Freeze: Corrects a bug causing display freezes during Wayland direct scanout across multiple monitors.
    • Kernel Crash Fix: Resolves kernel crashes that occurred during KMS operations through DRM when the nvidia_drm module was loaded with modeset=0.

This release aims to enhance the overall stability and performance of NVIDIA drivers for Linux users, particularly for those utilizing Wayland compositors.
