Apple Unveils Sleeker, Smarter Apple Watch Series 10 with Enhanced Display

Apple Watch Series 10 Advances with Brighter Display and Lighter Build

Apple has introduced the Apple Watch Series 10, highlighting a significant design overhaul with a focus on enhanced display technology and reduced weight. The new model, announced today, is designed to offer users a more immersive and comfortable experience.

The Apple Watch Series 10 features a 40% brighter OLED display compared to its predecessor, the Series 9. This upgrade not only improves visibility but also enhances the range of viewing angles. The display’s refresh rate has been increased to update app and complication information once per second during idle periods, a notable improvement from the previous one-minute update interval.

The Series 10 is the thinnest Apple Watch to date, with a case measuring just 9.7 mm. This reduction in thickness was achieved through the miniaturization of key components, including the speaker, logic board, and metal backing. The aluminum version of the Series 10 is 10% lighter than the previous model, while the new titanium variant offers even greater weight reduction.

Powering the Series 10 is the new S10 chip, which Apple claims enhances responsiveness and improves call quality by reducing noise and feedback. Additionally, some apps, such as Translate, now run natively on the watch, and fitness tracking features have been optimized.

Despite early rumors and leaks suggesting major changes—including potential new sizes (45 mm and 49 mm), a slimmed-down case with resin-coated copper boards, and a new magnetic attachment system for wristbands—the Series 10 maintains the existing slide-in band system and does not introduce new sizes. These features may be reserved for future updates.

No new models of the Apple Watch Ultra or Watch SE were announced. However, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 received a new “Satin Black” finish, new bands including a titanium Milanese loop with an updated locking mechanism, and numerous new software features focused on fitness. These include automatic track running detection, live cycling activity tracking on an iPhone, stroke and interval tracking for swimming, and an upgraded compass app with additional navigational features. The training system now promises more comprehensive insights.

Both the Series 10 and Apple Watch Ultra 2, along with the Series 9, are expected to receive sleep apnea detection capabilities pending FDA approval.

The Apple Watch Series 10 is available for pre-order starting at $399 for the Wi-Fi model and $499 for the GPS model. The Watch Ultra 2 is priced from $799. Both models are set to be available on September 20.
