Intuitive Machines has secured a major contract with NASA valued at up to $4.82 billion, the company announced Tuesday. This deal, which marks a significant boost for the space exploration firm, involves providing navigation and communication services for missions within the near space region.
Following the announcement, Intuitive Machines’ shares surged by 52% to $8.21 in after-hours trading, reflecting a remarkable year-to-date increase of over 100%.
The contract includes a base period of five years, with the potential for a five-year extension. Under this agreement, Intuitive Machines will deploy lunar relay satellites and offer critical communication and navigation support for NASA’s Artemis program, which aims to return humans to the Moon and establish a sustainable presence.
