Alphabet’s Google Cloud subsidiary is actively considering alternative strategies in response to Microsoft’s cloud licensing practices, Google Cloud head Amit Zavery disclosed on Wednesday.
Zavery’s remarks follow Microsoft’s recent agreement with trade body CISPE to settle an antitrust complaint related to its cloud licensing practices.
“Numerous regulatory bodies have initiated investigations into Microsoft’s licensing practices, and we remain optimistic about potential remedies that safeguard the cloud market from Microsoft’s anti-competitive conduct,” Zavery stated.
“We are evaluating our options to persist in our opposition to Microsoft’s anti-competitive licensing practices, aiming to foster diversity, innovation, and the expansion of the digital economy across Europe.”
