In addition to these safeguards, teenagers will undergo a “specific onboarding process” to ensure they use Gemini correctly. An AI literacy guide will also be available for reference.

Google highlighted the benefits of Gemini’s expansion: “Gemini is designed to be a helpful tool for teenagers. It can inspire creativity and encourage them to explore their passions. Age Requirements
Generally, teenagers aged 13 and above can now use Gemini. However, there are exceptions. In many countries, particularly in the EU, South Korea, Vietnam, certain Caribbean nations, and some Latin American countries, the minimum age ranges from 14 to 16 years old.

Gemini has stringent measures, even for adults. Due to concerns over election interference, Google has implemented a blanket ban on answering questions about current affairs. The AI also exercises caution regarding legal and medical queries, ensuring responsible use.

Despite concerns that AI might facilitate cheating, tools like Gemini can significantly aid learning. For instance, users struggling with new concepts can ask follow-up questions or request simplified explanations for better comprehension.
