Microsoft has resolved a significant outage that impacted Azure services for more than two hours, affecting numerous customers across North and Latin America.
The disruption, which began around 18:22 UTC, primarily impacted services utilizing Azure Front Door (AFD), Microsoft’s cloud Content Delivery Network (CDN). The company attributed the outage to a “configuration change,” which led to widespread service interruptions.
Microsoft acknowledged the issue on its Azure status page, noting, “This issue is impacting multiple geographies, predominantly in North America and Latin America.” In response, the company rolled back the configuration change at 19:25 UTC, leading to a gradual recovery of affected services. Many Microsoft services were rerouted away from AFD to mitigate the issue.
Despite this, customers in the United Kingdom also reported connectivity issues with Azure services, including Azure DevOps. The Azure DevOps status page indicated that Brazilian users were experiencing similar problems.
Additionally, the Azure status page was inaccessible to many users for approximately an hour, leaving them without updates on the outage’s status. Downdetector logged thousands of user reports concerning server connection and login issues, although the Service Health Status page did not reflect any Azure-related problems during the outage.
