Vision Pro Surges Past 2,500 Native Apps, Narrowing Gap with Meta Quest Ecosystem

Apple’s Vision Pro ecosystem has achieved a significant milestone, surpassing 2,500 native apps, according to the latest public data from the company. This marks a notable increase from the 2,000 apps reported in June. In addition, Vision Pro users can now access up to 1.5 million compatible iPhone and iPad apps through a floating window mode.

In comparison, Meta’s Quest app store, a primary competitor, offers approximately 3,000 apps, predominantly focused on gaming. This highlights a key difference in the app offerings between the two platforms. Despite this impressive growth, the Vision Pro ecosystem continues to face challenges. Recent criticisms from an Apple Arcade developer highlight issues such as a lack of transparency regarding hardware and software workings, inadequate incentives, and insufficient promotional support.

Furthermore, the high cost of the Vision Pro remains a significant barrier to widespread adoption. The ecosystem’s broader success may hinge on the introduction of more affordable models currently in development.
