Shivank Agarwal, the co-founder and former CEO of the short video app Mitron TV, and Mohd Amir, co-founder of the online train ticket booking platform TrainMan, are set to debut their new venture, Callmatic, a conversational AI startup, according to sources close to the development.
Callmatic aims to revolutionize how businesses handle communication by automating both inbound and outbound calls. The platform is designed to enhance lead qualification and scale customer outreach efforts. The company’s website highlights its focus on leveraging generative AI technology to deliver solutions across various sectors, including recruitment, sales, healthcare, and customer support.
Prior to founding Callmatic, Amir served as a senior engineering manager at Microsoft and was deeply involved with TrainMan from its inception in October 2013 until March 2019. TrainMan, which received backing from Goodwater Capital, was acquired by Adani Digital Labs last year.
The Bengaluru-based startup has already secured significant backing from a group of angel investors. A total of $100,000 (approximately Rs 83.8 lakh) has been invested by individuals including Abhishek Agarwal, Nilesh Ukey, Sumit Gupta, Abhishek Jain, Karan Attri, Kush Mishra, Manasi Jain, Naresh Kumar, Naveen Bansal, Rahul Kumar Sahu, Vineet Chirania, Gaurav Nemade, and Gunjan Sharma, according to data from the Registrar of Companies (RoC).
In a related development, it was previously reported that Mitron TV was in discussions for an acquisition by Koo, a vernacular microblogging platform. Koo, which recently ceased operations, had invested Rs 28.17 crore in Mitron TV through a share swap agreement. However, the deal fell through, leading to Mitron TV’s quiet shutdown in mid-2022. The app had gained prominence as a popular alternative following TikTok’s ban in India. Agarwal’s LinkedIn profile indicates he remained with Mitron TV until September 2022, while co-founder Anish Khandelwal rejoined MakeMyTrip in April 2022.
