Elon Musk, the owner of the social media platform X, has sharply criticized Australia’s center-left government, calling them “fascists” in response to proposed legislation aimed at combating misinformation online.
On Friday, Musk’s comments came after Australia’s Labor government introduced a new bill that could impose fines of up to 5% of global revenue on social media companies that fail to curb the spread of false information. This legislation is part of a broader international effort to regulate tech giants and address the challenges posed by misinformation on the internet.
