In a significant cybersecurity operation, the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has dismantled a prominent Chinese hacking group known as “Flax Typhoon,” FBI Director Christopher Wray announced on Wednesday. Speaking at a cybersecurity conference in Washington, Wray detailed how the FBI has seized thousands of compromised devices previously controlled by the group.
According to Wray, Flax Typhoon was operated by Integrity Technology Group, a Chinese company that, while presenting itself as an IT firm, was actually involved in intelligence collection and reconnaissance for Chinese government security agencies. This disruption marks the second major intervention by the FBI against a Chinese hacking entity in recent times.
