Spotify, the popular audio streaming platform, has successfully restored service following a significant outage that lasted approximately three hours on Sunday. At its peak, the disruption impacted over 40,000 users across the United States, according to outage tracking site Downdetector.com.
As of 3 p.m. ET (1900 GMT), reports indicated that fewer than 600 users were still experiencing issues. “Everything’s looking much better now!” Spotify announced in a post on social media platform X.
While Spotify has not yet provided an explanation for the outage, user reports detailed various issues, including the inability to load playlists and sudden interruptions in music playback. Many users could only stream previously played songs during the downtime.
In the second quarter of this year, Spotify reported an increase in paying subscribers, reaching a total of 246 million.
