    Adobe Launches Free App to Empower Creators Amid AI Revolution

    Adobe announced on Tuesday its plan to launch a free web-based application in 2025, designed to help creators of images and videos secure proper attribution for their work used in artificial intelligence systems.

    Since 2019, Adobe and several tech companies have collaborated on “Content Credentials,” a digital stamp intended to identify the origin of photos and videos online. TikTok, owned by China’s ByteDance, has already committed to implementing Content Credentials to label AI-generated content.

    Headquartered in San Jose, California, Adobe’s forthcoming service will enable creators to attach Content Credentials to their work, affirming their authorship. The app will also allow users to express their preferences regarding the use of their content in AI training systems, providing a measure of control over how their creations are utilized.

    The growing use of data in AI training has prompted legal action across various sectors. Notably, publishers like the New York Times have taken legal steps against OpenAI, while other companies have pursued licensing agreements. Despite these developments, no major AI firm has yet committed to Adobe’s transparency standards.

    Scott Belsky, Adobe’s chief strategy officer and executive vice president for design and emerging products, emphasized the importance of this initiative. “By offering creators a simple, free, and easy way to attach Content Credentials to what they create, we are helping them preserve the integrity of their work while enabling a new era of transparency and trust online,” he stated in a press release.
