Amazon announced on Wednesday that Apple TV+ will be accessible through its Prime Video platform in the United States starting later this month, priced at $9.99 per month. This development marks a significant opportunity for Apple, which has struggled to keep pace with streaming competitors like Netflix, Disney+, and its own Prime Video.
Apple TV+ has carved out a niche for itself by focusing on original content, boasting popular series such as Ted Lasso, The Morning Show, and Severance. This strategy has earned the platform 72 Emmy Award nominations, showcasing its commitment to high-quality productions.
Despite its accolades, Apple TV+ faces challenges, notably a high subscription cancellation rate compared to its rivals. Market research firm Antenna indicates that Apple TV+ ranks among the platforms with the most customer drop-offs, while Netflix enjoys the lowest cancellation rates in the industry.
With the integration of Apple TV+ as a channel on Prime Video, Amazon continues to expand its streaming offerings, joining a lineup that already includes HBO Max, Discovery+, Starz, Showtime, and Paramount+.
