OpenAI has introduced “Projects,” an AI-powered folder system to help users organize chats, files, and ongoing tasks more efficiently. Announced during a live stream, the feature allows users to create customizable folders for different projects, where they can store documents, manage chat histories, and even add instructions for ChatGPT.
“Projects” aims to simplify tasks like managing a Secret Santa gift exchange or tracking home maintenance, providing a centralized place for all relevant information. Users can customize folder titles, colors, and upload documents, with ChatGPT remembering context between sessions to avoid re-sharing files.
Initially available to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, and Teams users, “Projects” will be rolled out to Enterprise and Edu accounts in early 2024, with free-tier users getting access soon after. With over 300 million weekly users, this new feature adds an extra layer of organization to OpenAI’s suite of tools, responding to user feedback and improving productivity.
